Understanding Learning

Getting Learning Free Online Research Papers Understanding learning inside people and non-people is a zone that analysts have explored over numerous years. The principal significant methodology was behaviorism which lead to the near and psychological methodologies. These two methodologies are bolstered by various physiologists, who have characterized strategies to help comprehend learning, for example, creatures conduct and the people mind. These methodologies both use tests, be that as it may, they consider various components to help demonstrate their examination, which can be comparable and appear differently in relation to one another. The relative point of view in brain research depends on behaviorism; the behaviorist clinicians use basically analysis to watch the conduct of creatures and different animals in learning. Specialists recommend that learning is conceivably detectable and quantifiable and the earth is taking a tremendous part in considering conduct in learning. The subjective point of view originate from behaviorism it additionally utilizes exploratory, yet over the long haul the parts of considering learning has changed. It centers around all the more understanding the inductions that occurs in the mind forms. The procedures in the mind is one of the principle parts of the intellectual point of view. This methodology does even now have behaviorism as a significant component like similar, in any case, it likewise offsets it with the psychological procedures. A strategy which separates the psychological methodology is classification realizing which bunch things together to assist people with sorting out their encounters. One of the main analyses or studies for classification learning was by Bruner at al, who utilized a strategy called theory testing. This strategy for demonstrating and opposing the speculation isn't considered by relative methodology. A relative methodology which does utilizes some portion of the psychological methodology was a piece of Tolman’s research. Tolman utilized traditional and instrumental molding to discover how the rodents conduct changed and learnt. His examination centers around whether the rodent gained from its given condition and adjusted its conduct by considering the learning inside the cerebrum. His trial consolidates the similar and psychological methodology since it makes derivation of what is happening in the rodents head. The behaviorist Tolman recommend â€Å"that learning includes ‘something in the head just as a change in behaviour† p181 Tolman The near methodology typically does an examination dependent on condition that watches the subjects conduct. The scientist will make judgment of the result of the conduct that the subject appeared in the fake condition. The counterfeit conditions which are set up in this methodology can likewise be seen by the psychological point of view. In Skinners box a domain was set up to screen conduct of rodent figuring out how to get food. The trial included rodent to learn anticipations by giving arrangement of uplifting feedback, which the conveyance of food is controlled by the experimenter which is called operant molding. The examination demonstrated that the conduct of the rodent gained from the trial which is applied by the law of impact. The earth of the trial has an absence of biological legitimacy because of conduct of the rodent may not be connected near people notwithstanding of creatures adjust as people do. In contrast with similar methodology, the absence of natural legitimacy can likewise be found in the Bruners’s card test. His work lacks the genuine situation and it depends on an observation strategy. He created cards which are classed as fake boosts, the members sorted the cards by inquiring as to whether certain cards were a piece of a similar classification and when the members chose their speculation they recorded it. This psychological methodology took a gander at how the brain order things, Bruners said that individuals utilize two primary systems; progressive examining and preservationist centering. Bruners contend that â€Å"people learn ideas by means of a procedure of creating and afterward refining theory in the light of further evidence†p193 This sort of subjective methodology can have a few outcomes and there are some human understandings. Another issue with Bruners theory approach was brought up by Fodor and Chomsky, known as enlistment issue. This is the point at which the speculation depends on past encounters and there could various diverse hypothesis’s that are right, which could likewise negate one another. This is totally different to the exact idea of the near methodology found in Skinners confine which gives clear outcomes the changing conduct of the rodent. The scientists of the intellectual methodology moved from Bruners observational based analysis to progressively significant classes. Murphy and Kaplan accepted the foundation information was significant in classification learning. For instance, the aftereffects of the analysis show that the members didn't attempt to gain proficiency with the various qualities they utilized the foundation information to interface the traits. Be that as it may, these two view purposes of this methodology vary from one another in light of the fact that Brunner doesn't consider earlier information. Murphy’s try utilizes one related characteristic and five irrelevant quality of vehicles. This subject implied that members adapted twice as fast than the individuals who didn't have related topic. As opposed to the intellectual methodology the near methodology considers the natural information regarding the matter. As appeared in the Skinners box when the conduct of rodent is watched utilizing its characteristic information on want for food. Without this inborn nature the rodent would not secure the need of figuring out how to get the food. Comparable perspectives have been recommended utilizing a subjective methodology by Fodor and Chomosky. The two of them contend that taking in originates from natural, which is like the Plato who accepted that taking in principally originated from nativism. They recommended that an option in contrast to classification information is the subject’s inborn conduct. The various methodologies that clinicians have concentrated to help comprehend learning with creatures and people have implied that there are numerous techniques that can help clarify. Similar with its experience in behaviorism would in general screen occasions of creatures and it was later that physiologists began to make surmisings of the mind to help out clarify the outcomes. The psychological methodology recognizes ways which people orders things relying upon our encounters, past information or inborn capacities. The two ways to deal with learning utilize altogether different techniques yet they additionally draw on certain comparative components particularly when making deductions about the mind. Now, when Panda was first released in Feb 2011, my blog traffic wasslightlyhurt and Panda being a new thing, I completely ignored it. Situation become worse when traffic went down from 18000/day to 4000. And in blogging, losing this much of traffic is like losing a fortune.Last month in a bloggers meet, I met few pro-bloggers from India and one of the hot discussion topic wasGoogle Panda Penalty. The sad part was, most of them were taking SEO and panda non-seriously, and none of them showed interest to fix it and recover from Panda. Many of them were like it s just a tweak and with time, this will be fixed. My answer: Want to recover from Panda, stop planning and start acting right away. The very first step to start with is: Why Google Panda updates are impacting your site. If this impact if good or bad. If after every update your traffic is going down constantly, its time to make a well-planned SEO strategy and work on it.What is Google Panda penalty? Before we move ahead with reasons for Panda penalty, lets see what Panda is and what Google Panda penalty means. Google Panda is a major tweak in search engine algorithm, whose aim is to push the quality site up and lower down the ranking of low-quality content. Unlike all previous update, Google Panda is a domain level penalty, which means even if you have 5-10 low-quality content, your whole domain might get hurt because of this. The best way to check for Google Panda penalty is to open your Google Analytics and check these dates for any traffic drop or increase.Google Panda update dates :Feb 24th 2011April 11th-12th 2011May 9th 2011June 18th 2011July 23rd 2011September 28th 2011October 9th 2011October 13th 2011October 18-19 2011In most of the cases, you will either notice an increase or notice a drop. Well, somebody loss is somebody gain here again. Now if you have seen a traffic drop, it means somewhere your site is lacking something. Or, you might be giving such signals to Google, which push your site down from the grade of quality site ortrust-ablesite. Your first goal is to find what is it? Is it : Content quality-thin content, On site SEO, Too many ads, blog load time, design and many more. I will focus on some major points which will be helpful for you to lower down the impact of Google Panda penalty.Site indexed pagesIm not going to talk in-depth about your site SEO, as there are many resources on the Internet which will help to learn about on site and page SEO. Lets see the other way, lets check how Google indexes your blog. Go to Google.com and search for site:domain.com. Replace domain with your domain address. For ex: Site: ShoutMeLoud.comYou will find all the pages that are indexed in Google from your site. Quickly analyze what all pages are indexed and most important part is making sure none of your tags, categories, labels, search pages and any such part of your sites are indexed which doesnt add any value. Especially go to the last page and if its saying Show omitted results, click on that and see if your site pages are indexed with parameters like replytocom or iSalt or any other. If yes, well you need to work on the following factor:Block wp-content, wp-includes access from Robots.txtAdd noindex meta tag to Tags, Categories, Authors and any such page which doesnt add value.Use canonical tag.Specially if you are tired of URL parameters and such useless link which is getting indexed in Google due to non-canonical tag, you should grab this.htaccess codefor clean WordPress URL.User behaviourUser behavior on your site is one major factor for search engine ranking now. Bounce rate, time on site are some factors that play a significant role here. If your site is cluttered with news from different niche, your site might have bounce rate. Also, no. of page views/visit is like 1 or 1.5; you need to work hard on your site design, content and architect. As, on an average as a user is reading your post and jumping away. The user might be leaving your blog instantly because of some of this factor: low-quality content, irrelevantpage, too many ads, difficult to read or slow load time. Your target should be lower down the bounce rate and increase the no. of page views/visit.Thin or low quality contentIf you have been writing all news post with no insight or little insight, your domain might be on the verge of Google Panda penalty. There is no exact definition of Thin content, but here Im going to give you a quick task, which will help you to understand the difference. Go to Google.com and search for How to write SEO opt imized content and analyze the first five results. Rate all the five pages on the scale of 10 and once done, analyze why you rated someone higher and why lower. Obviously, all these five results are quality content but at the same time, you measured differently to all 5 of them. If you find an answer to this, you are on the right track and now read on.READShould I Start An Online Business? From my experience. I was working on analyzing and finding thin content on my blog. Most of my early days post which are usually 100-200 words and most of them are outdated.Too many meta KeywordsToo many use of H3 tagsAnnouncement post which dies after some time. For ex: Hostgator June 2010 discount coupon.Pages with high bounce rate.Useful topic but without any insight.Long meta descriptionPage load timeDuplicate content (PR, news posts)Now, once you have found out all thin content on your blog, there are couple of actions which you can take:Re-edit the postsNoindex them and remove from Google Web search.Delete them and remove from Google Web search. If you are not an expert in this, you might like to hire any SEO expert or SEO company that can do all this thing for you. Talking about my actions: I mostly re-edited those posts that fall into the category of thin content but are useful. I added more information and republished it on the same day. You can see on such example on my post on BuySellads review. This post was earlier in 300 words and offer very less insight. Though the information was accurate but many more information can be added to it. I made all the changes and used LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) to make the content more SEO friendly and boom, that post is now on the first page of Google.Too many AdvertisementsWithout ads, its impossible to survive as a professional blogger. Google never says No to the ad but a big NO when it comes totoo many ads. If your ads are added in a way, which clutter the site design or you are adding too many ads around the post, you mig ht be standing in the danger zone. Especially, if you are in the practice of adding ads in between the post. This is one of the must things that you should not do. Make sure, you dont have too many ads above the fold and not too many ads around the content. Check 5 Profitable ways to monetize your blog without banners.Site SEOPeople arespeculatingthat Panda means the death of SEO, which is not true at all. Panda enhances the complete algo of Google search and makes it better. There are many safe SEO practices that everyone should follow for example: Canonical URLs, backlink building, Sitemap, Site Architect and other SEO checklist. Your on-page SEO also plays a great role here. If you have never done SEO optimization of your website, you might be missing a big chunk of traffic and most important your site might not rank well in search engine. There are many other factors like Page speed, too many poor backlinks, spun content, too many down times. The best way to judge your site, it l et a layman browse your site. See how he takes the action and if he go to other content or just leave. Is he facing problem understanding your content or he has some additional questions after reading your content? One simple approach that I suggest you to keep is searching Google for the topic you are writing. Analyze the content of first 5-6 results and get an idea of what all you have to cover. Not to forget, even if you are writing complete detail, you might be missing the important on-page SEO factors like Keyword in the permalink, H1-H2-H3 tags and so on. You can probably consider purchasing plugins like Clickbumb, Easy WP SEO or ScribeSEO and optimize your content better on WordPress platform. I have been doing the same from last few months, and all such re-edited posts started getting their traffic back. One easy way to monitor is, grab Keyword monitor software and check keyword position of any page before editing it, and compare it after 3 days of re-editing it. Adding more to it, after three days, do the social bookmarking submissions and promotion and check the Keyword position for that post.I have seen my keyword position improving in following pattern 89388. Before editing my experimental post, it was ranking at 89th position for my target keyword, after optimizing and adding more information, it jumped to 38 in 12 hrs. After social media submission, it jumped to 8th position. Though 3-4 posts are too less to come up with such conclusions but yes, it does help. The best way is to try it now and see it yourself. There are few things that you should start doing from now on:Write quality posts with complete detail.Social bookmarking. (Very important)Regularly update your blog.A nice site layout with less clutterUseBreadcrumbsUtilize Youtube Flickr to drive more traffic.Well, if you fall in the category of Panda beaten blogger, you might be having nightmare about your Blogging future. Though, there is no 100% recovery but once you start recovering from Panda penalty, you will be getting more targeted traffic than before and your earning will be back to normal, even with less traffic.Recommended reading:How to recover from Google Panda effect.Do let us know if Panda hurts your domain? Introduction Retailers like Wal-Mart, Kroger, Target, Home Depot, and any store located in a mall, make up a large portion of jobs in the United States. At Target there is no college degree needed for team member status or even in the next level up, the team leader positions. If a possible team member is still in high school or college that can be worked around for certain work centers. Technologys Effect on Music Essay - 908 Words

In the past ten years Auto-Tune has been the death of real music, just as Charles Manson killed Sharon Tate. While the program didn’t hold a gun to music’s head, it was the mastermind behind the decline of raw emotion. In the 70’s and 80’s music was more than just perfect figures and dance moves, music was real. When someone got up to sing in front of an audience they really sang, there was no other option. In the 2000s though, whenever there’s a performance it’s commonplace to sing to a track. Because of Auto-Tune most of us don’t even know what our favorite musicians really sound like. There were guitar riffs and mistakes and those things are vanishing the more technology evolves. It was scratc hy and imperfect and that’s what made it so relatable to youth. In 1997 Auto-Tune came out and ever since then the music industry has been going downhill. Now we seem to be looking for perfection in all around us and that’s not what music is. Music is an emotion provoking experience, now we’re just looking for sugar coated good looks and a good beat. Lip-synching has become a common practice in the music industry. Now instead of chancing a mistake artists would rather put on a faà §ade and sing to a track. Every live pop performance in the past few years has been with the help of a track. That’s partially Auto-Tune’s fault. Auto-Tune has taught musicians that perfection through computerization is the standard at which the industry is operating on. Just take Britney Spears’ come back performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. She was pressured into returning for the publicity, sang along with a track, and ended up messing up more often than not. The song was so distorted compared to her first single, Hit Me Baby One More Time, and that’s because of the heightened use of Auto-Tune. It’s either use Auto-Tune or lose your record deal. Decathlon Strategy free essay sample

Thus, one of its activities is the creation of range of specialized clothing and sportswear as well as sport equipment. So, by marketing its own brands ‘Passion’ Decathlon is diversifying its business as a distributor with the business as a manufacturer of sports products. Examples of those ‘Passion’ brands are Quechua, dedicated to mountain sports, and Tribord for water sports. However, competition in this sector has increased in recent years with the expansion of the supply of sports goods in hypermarkets, which are indirect but important competitors. Concentration of direct competitors such as Intersport, Go Sport or Twinner also plays an important role in this environment. In a market increasingly competitive, attention should be paid to the strategy that Decathlon has put in place in its sector in order to sustain its position. Thus, we will study as a first part the competitive environment of Decathlon. In a second time we will analyze the strategy of the famous French brand, and finally we will focus on the strategic fit. 1. Competitive environment . 1. Pestel †¢ Political factors: Creation of sport structure by local authorities †¢ Economical factors: France is the biggest European market, with 9. 1 billion of euros in 2009 (according to the National French Sport Federation) 78% of the market share is hold by large-scale specialized retailers Lot of sporting goods retailers, which increase competition Hypermarkets are also very interested by the sport sector Growth of second-hand market Producer-dealer are growing in the competition †¢ Social factors: Mass men phenomenon of sport activities: 84% of French over 15 years old practiced a sportive activity in 2010, 10 million were members of sport club and 5 million took part in a sport event Growth of spare time and of purchase power since 2 decades Positive image of sport: health, wellness Recent inflation lead to a reduction of leisure budget Reduction of sports activity with the age †¢ Technological factors: New technologies lead to new activities, or renewal of old one (roller skate have been replaced by rollerblade) ICTs let the development of online sales in sport sector Fast obsolescence in some sports (snow sports for example) †¢ Environmental factors: Outdoor sport is seen as a leisure in harmony with nature †¢ Legal factors: French law restrict the opening of new department store 1. 2. Porter five forces †¢ Rivalry among competitors: Two types of actors are present in the market: large-scale retailers (supermarket chains, department stores) and specialized retailers. In the specialized distribution, we can distinguish: the suburban store and the city center and local shops. Indeed, the current trend shows that the sport is growing urban, getting closer to fashion. Thus, parkas and sneakers are no longer reserved exclusively for sports; they invade the streets and offices. For example, Intersport, a direct competitor of Decathlon, has completed its network of supermarkets with Sport Expert (small local sports shops), Intersport Montagne (in ski resort) and La Halle aux sports (discount local shops). We can also notice that hypermarkets are very interested by the sport sector, and many of them are dedicating a part of their store to the sport goods. The last actor of the market is less important, but must be considered: Some independent shops are specialized in one sport (e. g. cycle shop). Finally, there are numerous distribution channels: shops, mail order, e-commerce, sales at the factory The diversity of actors explains the intensity of competition in the sector. The sector is growing (6%) but this growth is highly variable from one product to another and market share can change quite fast. Competition is particularly important because the market is saturated. †¢ Threats of new entrants and entry barriers: Actual sporting goods retailers are occupying the whole market in term of product offer and price range (low-end to high-end). The actual retailers seem to have locked their area of activity. Therefore, enter the sector involves significant barriers to overcome. Clear barriers: Differentiation is very difficult Require a large capital to have a chance to get in the market Necessary expertise in the sport field Need to be part of a network of manufacturers/distributors In conclusion, the threat of new entrants is very low, considering the important barriers a potential new entrant has to face †¢ Bargaining power of suppliers: As the distributor of its own brand and of international brands products, Decathlon faces two types of providers: Its own subcontractors Manufacturers of sports brands such as Nike, Adidas, Salomon or Reebok The relationship between Decathlon and its subcontractors is based on a strong partnership. On the one hand, the company provides a vital outlet for little French suppliers. On the other hand, the group selects subcontractors who are geographically close and asks them to provide quality exclusive products. Thus, the group is able to deal with this part of suppliers. In contrast, the relationship between sporting goods multinationals and Decathlon are strained. The big brands (Nike, Salomon, and Adidas) have a strong pressure on the place of their articles in the stores. They are complaining that the private label is too much present on the side of their articles. Moreover, the bargaining power is on the side of the major manufacturers and they refuse to be less important than the store’s brand. This choice is very effective in time of crisis, but when the consumer wants a product that also conveys values, it weakens. Threat of substitutes: To evaluate the pressure of substitutes, the question arises about the use of a sports article. On one side, the sports article is related to a sport. In this case, the risk of substitution can come from a change in these activities: they may become less important (in favor of other activities) or a new practice requiring little technical equipment can emerge. On the other hand, if wearing sports clothing is fashionable, clothing habits can take over sport use of the clothe (e. g. streetwear). Therefore, the distributors of sport goods find themselves in competition with retailers of clothing. †¢ Bargaining power of buyers: The bargaining power of customers is important. Indeed, the transfer costs from one distributor to another are small. The major brands are available in all stores of competitors of Decathlon. Moreover, the market of sports equipment especially the sportswear and the shoes are increasingly depending on fashion and seasons: for example, rollerblading have exploded in recent years, but when this market will become mature, a new sport may arise. Consumers are becoming more demanding and less loyal. 1. 3. Strategic group Group A: These are the market leaders offering a wide range of equipment and products of high technology. In addition, these industry leaders are present in clothing, footwear and sport equipment. This strategic group includes brands extremely specialized, whose products are very technical. These companies, for example Eider or Columbia, are positioning themselves in the market of outdoor goods. Group C: Decathlon is itself a strategic group, as it is the only sport equipment distributor to offer its own brands. Decathlons sports products are very broad and also very technical compared to the one of Go Sport and Courir for example. Group D: Here we find ‘riding’ brands, such as Quicksilver and Rip Curl. They position themselves on a particular niche: large variety of fashionable products but no particular technical advantage. Group E: This strategic group includes most sportswear brands like Reebok, Puma (the followers of the market leaders). These companies can be defined by a multi-sports offer (shoes, clothes ) but the products are less technical. 1. 4. Key factors of success †¢ Management knowledge Setting-up: To be able to enter this sector, companies must have a very important capacity to invest, because the costs are very high. An international presence is an advantage in a market without borders. Distribution channels: It is vital to diversify the distribution channels, with the importance of the presence on Internet and in Business to Business. Marketing knowledge Communication policy: Creating brand image through advertising campaigns and sponsoring. Services: The quality of the services is very important to create customer loyalty. Thus, reception, advising, after-sale service and equipment hire are part of the key factors of success. †¢ Production knowledge The range: A large and diversified range, for all consumers with a price range adapted, or a small but very specialized range, aiming very regular user who will pay the price for very high quality.

Life Work of Japanese Artist Hosoda Eishi Essay Example

Life Work of Japanese Artist Hosoda Eishi Paper The Japanese art form of woodblock printing, Ukiyo-e, is the most universally known form of Japanese art. It originated in the mid-seventeenth century and lasted through the mid-nineteenth century. This time period is described as the Edo Period. Hosoda Eishi was one of the artists in Ukiyo-e School. He has done pieces in both printing and woodblock printing. To understand and gain respect for the art of Hosoda Eishi, we need to talk about Ukiyo-e. In essence, Ukiyo-e reveals much of the rich history of Japan. This paper will first talk about the background of Hosoda Eishi, then an overview of Ukiyo-e and the works of Eishi will be covered. Eishi (Chobunsai) Hosoda Eishi Hosoda, also known as Chobunsai, was born in 1756 as the son of a noted Samurai family. He was the eldest son and his future was assured in the form of an annual stipend from the shogun (Evan 1975). He was appointed to a high rank at the court. He first studied Kano and served as an official painter to the shogun for several years. Then, around the age of thirty, Eishi gave up his heritage and turned to the plebeian Ukiyo-e prints that had been his first love for some years. It was said that for the tolerance of his family he was allowed to make this drastic step down into the masses without complete ostracism or even direct government interference (Evan 1975). Indeed, he was even allowed to retain his art name Eishi (He Glorifies) which had been bestowed on him by the shogun himself. Trained in the Tori-style, he produced highly praised works. His favorite subjects were Bijin which means beautiful women. Moreover, he developed an interest in painting prostitutes, and A Beauty in the Snow was one of his mature pieces. He also produced some prints with landscape and historic subjects. Unlike most of the ukiyo-e artists, who were typically born into the merchant class, Eishi was born into a noted samurai family. Eishis early prints date from the period of Kiyonagas dominance, yet already reveal a refined sweetness that was to remain his trademark (Percival 1978). Like his later mentor Utamaros work, Eishis work was devoted principally to designs of beautiful female figures, whether courtesans of the Yoshiwara or idealized maidens in idyllic surroundings. His women are refined, elegant, quiet, and like a doll, they are motionless. Eishis women do not show their feelings. It is said, that was because Eishi was a samurai, his view of women was strongly influenced by the ideal of samurai women (Percival 1978). He was also a master of erotica. Eishi was not only one of the most successful and popular artists of his day, but was also a very influential teacher who had many pupils and followers. History of Ukiyo-e Ukiyo-e is traditional wood-block printing art of Japan. The appealing art of the Ukiyo-e woodblock print is undoubtedly the most universally known of all Japanese arts. This particular style of art flourished in Japan during the period from the mid-seventeenth to the mid-nineteenth century. The word Ukiyo was originated from a Buddhism term this transitory world lasting for ones life until death. However, the meaning was changed later with an optimistic view of life that one should enjoy his life anyhow one passed through the transitory world, while the word e means a picture or drawing (Percival 1978). The art of Ukiyo-e, now usually means pictures of the floating world, originated in the metropolitan culture of Edo (modern day Tokyo) during the period of Japanese history when the political and military power was in the hands of the shoguns, and the country was virtually isolated from the rest of the world. It is an art closely connected with the pleasures of theatres, restaurants, teahouses, geisha and courtesans (Pekarik 1991). Also Ukiyo-e took on the role of mass media for the community. Many Ukiyo-e prints were in fact posters, advertising theatre performances or idol portraits of popular actors and beautiful teahouse girls. But this more or less sophisticated wor ld of urban pleasures was also animated by the traditional Japanese love of nature. Some of the popular art pieces by Eishi are The Thirty-Six Immortal Women Poets which is a poetry album with illustrations by Eishi, Shizuka in the Shizutama-ya, which was made around 1794 or 1795 when his art was at its best. It is from the set, Six Select Beauties in the Gay Quarters (Seiro Bijin Rokkasen), Courtesan on a Spring Evening and Oiran with Two Kamuro Strolling under a Cherry Tree were both handscrolls with ink and colour on silk. Some woodblock prints like Kisen Hoshi, from the series Six Immortal Poets, Echizenya Morokoshi, from the series Six Beauties from the Pleasure Quarter and Hanogi, Yoshino and Tatsuta from the Ogiya Establishment are example of the work by Eishi. Conclusion In Japan, painting is the preferred artistic expression practiced by amateur and professional alike. Until modern times, the Japanese wrote with a brush rather than a pen, and their familiarity with brush techniques has made them particularly sensitive to painterly values. Undoubtedly, the artwork of Eishi and the influences of Ukiyo-e on him have been significant in the history of Japanese art.

Book Review Sample of Monster by Walter Dean Myers

Book Review Sample of Monster by Walter Dean Myers is a specific genre. It requires both wisdom and honesty to write, whereas teenagers are the audience that does not forgive lies and sermons. Yet, they desperately seek for someone to give answers to their major questions about living and coming of age. Monster by Walter Dean Myers combines the unique form of narration with a message that makes to think about the sense and the consequences of actions and choices. The theme of adolescence is closely related to the themes of race and violence. Just like many young people, the main character is looking for a flock to stick to; thus, he makes mistakes that lead him to the threat of prison. Although written in a popular genre of young adult novel, the book is unique in the form and techniques, which the author uses in order to convey a message. It is a first person narration, which suggests that the novel is a confessional one. At the same time, the borderline between the real and the imaginary is quite thin, as the character writes a screenplay based on his life. This approach helps the author in combining the two perspectives: the first and the third person, because making his life a screenplay requires a necessity to view it in terms of the other peoples life. In the novel, the author describes the coming of age challenges that Steve Harmon, a sixteen-year-old teenager, faces. He is a black person and lives in Harlem, which makes his life closely linked to the aspects of race and violence. The author asks a question, to which extent such peoples lives are predetermined by their environment, and whether they are able to break the vicious circle that deprives that of any chance to live a different life. As a typical person of his age, Steve has a need to belong to a group of peers. In fact, he is being unaware of the path he chooses when joining a crew of violent guys who make him involved in a crime. ORDER FOR: $Â  11.99 document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", function () { $("#miniorder_shorcode form").append($("", { "name": "_token", "value": window.Laravel.csrfToken, "type": "hidden" })); }); The author does not condemn the young men because he believes that their fate is confined to a narrow range of opportunities in a tough black Harlem neighborhood. Early in their lives they become cynical about the world as they have to learn how to survive under the pressure close to the bottom of social hierarchy. At the same time, the author implies that despite the fact that there is a limited number of options for these people, there is always a moral choice to make. Steve fails to make the right choice when choosing the company because of his adolescence and lack of experience. As a sixteen year boy, he strives to find and reinforce his identity as a man, and his ideas of manhood are quite immature. It often happens that teenagers fail to distinguish between true masculinity and violence, and this is the case with Steve. He might realize that the company of older hooligan guys is probably not the best option for him, yet he is attracted by their self-confidence, which he lacks a t the point. Besides, he is not aware of how far this can go, until he gets involved in a drugstore robbery with an accidental murder of a person. So, alongside with the rest of the crew he has to face the trial. However, Steve is lucky to get help and understanding from Kathy OBrien who defends him. The attorney realizes that the boy is different from the rest of the guys. Moreover, he is not a monster as Sandra Petrocelli names him and James King. In fact, the author traces the roots of monstrosity as a social phenomenon, which often starts in adolescence. He implies that becoming a monster, an outcast or rebel, is not always a conscious choice but often a result of unfortunate coincidences, lack of experience or wrong judgment. A victim has all chances to become a monster too when getting into malicious environment as it is the case with Steve. The outcome of the trial is fortunate for Steve; with the help of his attorney he is let free as he is announced not guilty. At the same time, he does not have the feeling of finality because he still questions his own identity. In the course of the events, he goes several steps in the direction of more maturity. He learns more about the right and the wrong. Yet, he is not quite satisfied about the verdict, although he is happy to be free. Deep inside, he is not sure whether he is not guilty and whether the wrong choice that he made has not turned him into a bad person. The tone of the whole book is gloomy, and there is not a sharp contrast between the mood at the beginning and the end. Consequently, this implies that the main character does not feel satisfied: he is not in a real prison but because of his environment his life is like prison too, as he has not much choice. All in all, the novel raises a whole number of issues which accompany the theme of adolescence. The author demonstrates how environment shapes a personality and how ones identity can be shaken by one mistake that a person makes as a teenager. The book also highlights the problems that young black people face in a neighborhood, where they have little chance to start a different life.

Analyzes Communication between two Charcters in the Sound and The Fury Essay

Analyzes Communication between two Charcters in the Sound and The Fury written by William Faulkner - Essay Example Thus, throughout last chapter, readers are left in perplexity of timeframe, in which they are unable to distinguish between past and present. Caddy is the only sister who is like a mother figure to the brothers, is later shown to degenerate morally, which directly affects her brother Quentin, who is a Harvard student. Quentin whole heartedly follows the Southern Code, and believes in ideals such as purity, chastity and a purposeful life. Jason is depicted as a person full of hatred while Mr. Compson is a person who understands the bitter realities of life, which directly contradict the beliefs held by Quentin. The discourse between Mr. Compson and Quentin is interesting as the two characters possess completely dichotomous, polar views regarding life. Mr. Compson’s views add to Quentin’s dilemma regarding life, and eventually lead him to commit suicide. Although Mr. Compson appearances were a few, but through his few discourses, not only the constant battle Quentin was fighting was signified, but also the gradual thought process that led Quentin to decide his tragic fate was relayed. In the second chapter, Quentin reminisces about how his father had given him a watch, saying, â€Å"I give it [watch] to you not that you may remember time, but [†¦..]. Because no battle is ever won. They are not even fought. The field only reveals to man his own folly and despair, and victory is an illusion of philosophers and fools†Ã‚ , (Faulkner, 1992, p .76). Although it is ironical how the watch, signifying hope and faith, led Quentin to eventually break it, because he wanted to stop time. It was his futile effort to stagnate time, so that the degrading moral values of the 20th century did not creep into the Compson family and the Southern Code remains intact. Quentin, the oldest child in the Compson family, strongly adhered to principles of honor, love and purity. In his view, this comprised the Southern Code and the familial system was bound to adhere to it, as it was the

Sustainable Development and its overall impact Assignment - 1

Sustainable Development and its overall impact - Assignment Example is an evident fact that the industrial development in one country of a region can create environmental issues in the region and thus the other countries of the region are equally affected by these activities (Muschett, 1997). Therefore one of the most important principles of sustainable development is formulation of international laws to protect the environmental impact beyond borders. The members of the international community should cooperate with each other to ensure better economic growth, which ultimately leads to the achievement of various goals of sustainable development; however this cooperation should not be limited to economic growth and nations must extend support to each other for ensuring global peace and security as it is also an important aspect of sustainable development (Guruswamy and McNeely, 1998). Another important principle of achieving sustainable development is creating awareness among the masses about the advantages associated with it. A large majority of people in the world is not aware about sustainable development; under these circumstances the efficient use of resources in the world is not possible. Measures should be adopted to clear the doubts in the minds of people about the advantages of sustainable development. The large initial cost which occur due to the incorporation of sustainable development practices in various industrial and construction projects stop investors from adopting them because they are unaware of the long term financial incentives thus creating awareness is of prime importance to ensure sustainable development. Social capital i.e. the role of people in sustainable development is not given the due importance in the principles mentioned in the document. People should learn to accept responsibility to preserve the resources and climate of the planet for future generations. Accepting responsibility is an important principle as, along with creation of awareness, it is the most basic step towards achieving the goals

Ap English 1996 Essay Prompt Essay Example for Free

Ap English 1996 Essay Prompt Essay Writers use many tactics to get across to their readers. In order to get the moral of the story or the overall theme of the book, they might write about the main character reaching an epiphany of some sort that reveals the focus of the story. Writers tend to end their story with a happy ending in which the main character experiences a spiritual reassessment or a moral reconciliation. In Margaret Mitchells Gone with the Wind, the main character, Scarlett OHara, undergoes a spiritual reassessment and moral reconciliation. At the start of the novel, Scarlett is a high spirited girl concerned mostly about her looks and holding the attention of everyone. She does not really appreciate the little things in life because she has so much available to her. She feels the need to make herself seen by everyone and heard by everyone. There is one encounter where she is talking with two of the handsome boys in town; however, the boys begin to diverge from the topic of her to the topic of war. This angers Scarlett because the attention is no longer on her. She continues this child like behavior for most of the novel. However, her first encounter with Rhett Butler changes Scarletts life forever. When Rhett first meets Scarlett, he is intrigued by her beauty and the way she carries herself. Contrary, to how Rhett feels; Scarlett sees him a low life nothing that does not deserve her attention. Therefore, their time with each other is very short. However, as the novel progresses, their paths cross again. During this time, the Civil War is at its peak; and being that the characters are Confederates, everything is falling apart for them. Scarlett begins to grow out of her childish ways. Now that she sees the hardships of the Confederate soldiers at the hospital she works in, she begins to realize that life is more than dinner parties and corsets. When she meets Rhett again she is in a terrible condition and is in need of his help. He tells her that in order to receive his help, she needs to marry him. At first Scarlett refuses because she still feels that he is not good enough for her. Eventually, she agrees to marry him but mostly because of his money. Rhett however, is madly in love with Scarlett but is angry at  her lack of loving him. The only thing that keeps them together is their daughter Bonnie. She is their pride and joy is the only reason why they remain together. Tragedy strikes when Bonnie dies while trying to jump a fence while on the back of a horse. This tears Scarlett apart because she feels as if it is her fault that Bonnie dies. Rhett becomes distant from her because he is also devastated. Scarlett punishes herself for allowing her daughter to horseback ride. To make matters worse, her best friend Melanie dies after she has a miscarriage. At this point, the novel is ending and Scarlett is confused, lonely and afraid to feel. However, she starts to feel a strange longing for Rhett. After all this time she finally realizes that she loved Rhett because he is strong, and unscrupulous, passionate and earthy like her. With this sudden epiphany, Scarlett rushes her way home to Rhett. Ironically, Rhett is fed up with Scarlett and does not care about her new found love for him; so he leaves her. Although this does not seem like a happy ending, after Rhett left Scarlett, she does not get discouraged. She knows what she wants from her life now and it is Rhett. She morally reconciles with herself when she forgives herself for the death of her daughter. She spiritually reassesses herself when she realizes that all the time she was young, she did not really appreciate anything. Her father tells her once, that she will come to love all the things she does not think she will. That is exactly what happens to Scarlett. She decides to go to her home at Tara where she feels a special connection to and devises of ways to bring Rhett back into her life. Now that she has come to terms with who she really is, there is no turning back for her.

The P-51 Mustang: The Best Fighter Ever Essay -- plane, D model, aircra

The P-51 Mustang: The Best Fighter Ever The P-51 Mustang is regarded by many sources as the greatest fighter plane ever created. With the technological advancements this plane achieved, to it’s service record, to it’s importance in winning World War Two, the Mustang is truly one of the greats. The Mustang played a key role in long range bomber support and saved countless bomber crew’s lives, and pilots loved to fly it. The P-51 had the most aerial victories of any American fighter in World War Two and it was flown by some of America’s top aces. The P-51 was a beast of a fighter plane The most recognizable of the Mustangs was the D model. This is the model with the famous â€Å"bubble† canopy. It had a V12 Packard Merlin-built Rolls Royce model V-1650 engine that generated over 1,650 horsepower. The engine along with a sleek aerodynamic body, and laminar flow wings (which produce less drag than conventional wings because of their shape), gave the Mustang a top speed of about 440 miles per hour, making it one of the fastest fighter aircraft in World War Two. The laminar flow wing along with external fuel tanks gave it a range of over 1,000 miles making it the only fighter capable of escorting bombers for their entire mission. It was a very agile and maneuverable aircraft and could do moves most planes could only dream about. It had a wingspan of 37 ft., was 32 ft. 3 in. long, 13 ft. 8 in. tall, and fully loaded could weigh up to 12,100 lbs.It was armed with six Browning .50 caliber machine guns, and could carry six five inch rockets, or up to two thousand pounds of bombs on the underwing racks. The P-51 was also one of the first aircraft to have an electric gyro gun sight; its sight was designated the K14. The sight could calculate ... ...p against any other fighter out there. The P-51 Mustang truly is the greatest fighter aircraft in history. WORK CITED 1. Sherman, Stephen E. "Aces of the Eighth Air Force in World War Two." Language Essay Essay

The importance of language Language is an important tool to have because it allows individuals to write, speak, and communicate their thoughts, and gives a unique diversity to each individual, and provides individuals with their own identity. There are multiple forms of language, and with language, the process of hearing language, speaking language, and learning language is easier. Language is the most efficient way of communicating your thoughts, and without language, everyday activities become much harder. Language rises like a spring among the mountains, and learning to speak language properly and how it was meant to be spoken can increase your vocabulary substantially. An example from â€Å"Teaching New Worlds/ New Words† where Bell Hooks explained how white Americans haven’t yet acknowledged diverse language, and how language is being taken advantage of. Over the years, language has deteriorated greatly, because of people becoming more and more lazy and using shortened versions of words. Different forms of Language come and go like time spent through an hourglass, people often forget different forms of language that aren’t heavily promoted. In â€Å"Teaching New Worlds/New Words† Bell Hooks explained how black vernacular was dying off and being replaced by standard English. Language can be very confusing and difficult to understand, and is constantly changing. In â€Å"Politics and the English Language† George Orwell explained that how overtime politics has greatly influenced the English language in a negative way and filled it with euphemisms, â€Å"Modern English, especially written English, is full of bad habits which spread by imitation.† This quote explains that the English language has become monstrous because people are imitating the language they see, which may not be good language.
